Writing Highly Effective Diet Plans For Clients – Part 5 (Micronutrients)
Welcome to Part 5 of this 7-part mini-series on how to write an effective diet plan for your clients!
Over the last 2 lessons we looked at macronutrient quantity and macronutrient timing.
In today’s lesson we are going to shift gears and take a look at MICRO-NUTRIENT requirements.
Micronutrient intake is one of those areas I feel a lot of coaches, trainers and dietitians are playing Russian roulette with their clients health, especially when it comes to prescribing therapeutic doses of various micronutrients.
The effects a given micronutrient has on a persons physiology are largely linked to the quantity of that micronutrient.
For example various studies have shown that taking large doses of antioxidants can cause harmful and unwanted side effect to our health, and increase mortality.
That’s because when taken in excess certain micronutrients are toxic to the body.
This is why is it very important to monitor micronutrient intake through our diet and blood work when prescribing anything outside of a multivitamin.
I hope you enjoy Part 5 and stay tuned for Part 6 as we take a look at nutrition periodization and how to set up your clients plan for long-term success.
